Security Best Practices

• Read-only role — create a role with Search Audit and View Dashboards only
• No admin capabilities — prevent AI from modifying collectors, users, or partitions
• IP allowlist — restrict access key usage to your server's IP
• Access key rotation — rotate keys on a regular schedule
• Audit index — all API queries are logged in the Sumo audit trail

Getting Started

Set up read-only access for your AI agent:

1. Go to Administration → Security → Access Keys
2. Create a new access key for the MCP service
3. Assign a role with "Search Audit" and "View Dashboards" capabilities only
4. Restrict the key to specific IP ranges
